Welcome Page

Welcome,

Here, you will find links to my own self published books, Darkest Obsessions, Wild Seas and A Way to Escape.  Have a browse and I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them.

I am also an avid reader and so wanted to put forward my own reviews into a ‘Blog Type’ feature.  I will write my own thoughts on the books I have recently read and also rate them.  These are entirely my own opinions, (and probably, no doubt, will be controversial with some) but I welcome discussion and all your comments.

It would certainly be great to hear your views and thoughts on the books I have read.  Or maybe you would like to submit a review on my own published novels. So please feel free to let me know.

Foremost, I want this to be an informal, relaxed place where we can just sit back and enjoy a good read!

About Me

Hi,

My name is Sheree Smith. As with a lot of people out there, I tend to find it hard to write about myself. I would rather be putting reviews of books out there instead of ‘reviewing’ myself.  But, here goes!

My childhood was spent in a (what was then!) a small mining village in the northern depths of Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom. I had a fairly happy childhood. Doing what usual kids in the 80 – 90’s did.  Which meant no ipads or Xbox’s but genuine running the streets and terrorising the play parks nearby.  I think I was a fairly quiet kid (though others may say otherwise!). I did my homework, did a few crafts and read a lot.

My father was a miner at the village colliery as was most father’s, grandfathers, uncles, brothers were. But later left the colliery to become a Driving Instructor which he did until he retired a few years ago. My mother worked in the local village shop. I have a younger sister, Amy who has now two children of her own.

After graduating school, I went onto college where I studied Business Administration and then carried these skills onto working for the Local Authority before moving into a bigger Corporate Environment working in the Midlands for a Water Authority.

I worked here for nearly 20 years, moving through departments and eventually becoming a Project Engineer.  It was here, I also met my husband, Dean who I married in 2001.

However, in 2015 we decided that we wanted a change from the ‘Corporate Rat Race’ and took the chance in moving 200 miles north of our home in Nottingham to the wonderful countryside that is Northumberland.  We had often enjoyed holidays in this area and knew instantly it would be the place we wanted to live.

In our first year, I wrote and self published my first novel Darkest Obsessions, then another – A Way to Escape and then again a year later – Wild Seas.  But after this my ‘creative juices’ seem to have ebbed away and I much prefer to read books by others, where I can sit back and just enjoy without the stress of editing and redrafting.

At the moment, I work locally but spend most of my time with my husband and my two dogs, Jaxson and Cali. Jaxson is a Spaniel x Corgi and Cali a Cocker Spaniel who we rehomed after the Covid lockdown. Living in such a spectacular countryside allows us to have plenty of fabulous walks and the dogs keep me fit.

As mentioned, I love reading and so I thought it might be a good idea to put a few of my own thoughts down on the books I am reading. I have often reviewed on Amazon but thought, why not put them on my own website. Hence doing this! See what you think! I am aware we all have our own opinions (so please be nice!) and so it would be great to hear what your own thoughts are of the books I have reviewed.

Happy reading!
